Our library moms have been working hard to make our library look beautiful. A special thanks goes out to Interior Images for the beautiful new carpet, rug and counter top. What a blessing! Stop by to take a look!
Many thanks also for the way books have been returned after 2 weeks loan, and for encouraging your children in their reading at home. Ask your child what they are taking from the library, and for the middle-schoolers how they are doing with their accelerated reading points.
We have been busy studying about some great authors during September and October. We started with a study about Ezra Jack Keats. He is a very talented author who writes stories about children who mostly live in busy cities. We have enjoyed comparing our lives to those of his characters and also enjoying his art work which includes collages, paint and textures of all kinds.
We just finished a study about Maurice Sendak best know for his book “Where the Wild Things Are”. The First graders helped us decorate the author area with their own “Wild Things” made in art class, really cool! We also were able to see an interview with Mr. Sendak and learn more about what motivated his writing and illustrations.
Next month we will learn about biographies, and read stories about a variety of interesting people. We also will be encouraging the children to read for Griffin’s tickets (only 3 hours
).
Please feel encouraged to stop by, ask questions or get involved!
