Educational Support Services

Borculo Christian School partners with All Belong Center for Inclusive Education to faithfully build belonging for students of all abilities. Formerly known as the Christian Learning Center or CLC Network, All Belong partners with us to provide teacher consulting, student educational evaluations, professional development, and much more. Learn more at allbelong.org.

We offer three tiers of services to students who struggle with academic difficulties, social difficulties, and behavioral/emotional issues. Our first level of support comes through our RtI program which offers immediate response to learning needs.  For students who need more intensive support, our Educational Support Services (ESS) takes over to provide students with the tools that they will need to be successful.  We also offer Speech & Language services, Occupational Therapy services, and Physical Therapy services at our school through the Zeeland Public Schools.

Borculo Christian’s ESS program also provides opportunities for students who have academic gifts by offering talent development options through extracurricular after-school programs.

The Educational Support Services director is Carlie Shults; and the RtI Reading Specialist is Mrs. Charmaine Kosten.

What does it mean to be an inclusive school community?

At our school, we believe that each student—regardless of intellectual, physical, behavioral, or socio-emotional ability—belongs within our school. Modeled after 1 Corinthians 12, we believe that diversity of ability is necessary for the body of Christ to be complete and that we bring glory to God when we live, learn, serve, and worship together in interdependent community. Rooted in this biblical blueprint for community, we believe that inclusive education expresses itself through ownership and friendship. Ownership means that we seek to make a home for each student in the general education classroom, while ensuring each one receives the individualized support they need. Authentic friendship is an important element of belonging. We recognize that some students may require intentional social supports to help them build meaningful relationships with peers. Ultimately, we seek to support students based on their unique gifts and needs as children of God.
